I have been on the computer but not blogging obviously - I've been on Pinterest. I may need an intervention. Not only am I spending way too much time looking for items to add to my boards I may start spending way too much money on those same things too.

Taking a Few Minutes

I had some mommy time this morning with Gabi and she reminded me that even taking 20 minutes to post a blog is worth it. I enjoy posting, it is for me and me alone and taking time for me is important!

Going through some work turmoil, evaluating my next career move and stressing about money makes taking a few minutes here and there for me all the more important.

A Bump in the Road

I've been coasting through my days, not living up to the expectations I have for myself and inevitably reached the "That's Enough!" point. Getting back to action these past few weeks feels good. At first you think you are going to feel better by taking it easy but things start piling up, you let your creative juices run dry and your laundry pile turns into a mountain.

When you add up all the wasted minutes in your day you realize how many minutes you have to put towards something that is going to make you happy. My blog makes me happy, getting together with old and new friends makes me happy, playing Mouse Trap with my boys makes me happy, watching a movie with Jeremy makes me happy - taking care of ME makes me happy.

Sometimes that bump in the road can send you soaring if you let it.

Breaking the Silence

I'm breaking out of my blogging rut by typing whatever comes to mind. Trying to come up with the perfect post after a 7 month hiatus is too much pressure.

This is to say I'm back, I'm here and I'm blogging again!

A few things I have on the go and want to share are:

• contributing to a new online mag that my good friend is putting together (she has bestowed the title of Creative Editor upon me) Look for the first issue this June
• Training for the Sun Run and 2 half marathons
• lots of crafty and creative goodness

A Thank You Tote

About 4 months ago my BBQ died, it was a slow death but still hurt when it came. Not knowing if I was moving  to Ontario soon, or kind of soon I didn't want to splurge on a new one and it could mean 1 less thing to move.


Then summer came and the absence of the family BBQ - any BBQ really - was almost unbearable. In walked a friend who just got a new BBQ as a wedding present. And yep, her old BBQ is now on MY back patio. It hasn't been here quite a week yet but Jeremy has given it lots of love and it has provided us with lots of yummy charcoaley goodness.


As a thank you to my friend and bride-to-be I made her this Thank-you tote.

More Thrift Stores, a Picnic and Paint Chips

Jeremy and I went thrifting again Friday night - we laughed at ourselves that we wanted to go thrift store shopping again during our alone time, but hey it's our time to do what we want.

Here are some of the treasures we found while having a great time:

a matching saucer to the 2 plates and bowl from a couple of weeks ago

a hardwood duck to keep Jeremy's new collection company

and some new patterns I can't wait to try - the size isn't 100% perfect but I'm going to give it a few modifications to get it fitting just right in certain areas. (no matter which way I rotate the pattern photo it wants to load like this - I'll chalk it up to finicky old age as they are from 1969)

Then we went on a picnic to Alco Park, we sat by the river...

tried to get a good picture of us together...

had a couple of um, oranges...

met a few slimey friends...

and found a few rocks for the boys to paint this week.

We went to the hardware store to pick out paint colours for a couple of rooms in our house I have been wanting to do something about for 4 years. Since we're going to be in this house for another year we decided it is time to do something about it. Seriously, I won't show you how bad it is until I have before and after pictures - it will be more dramatic that way.
